ONE MORE BREAKING HEART

Once there was a girl, living in a fairy tale, let’s just call her Cinderella
Yeah, she met a boy, this is how the story goes, every lonely dreamer knows it
Oh so well, we’re wishing on the stars
Falling, falling hard (for)

Love love, the call we always answer
One more breaking heart
Love love, the dance moves the dancer
Every time we start, there’ll be one more breaking heart

Now we see the boy, caught in castle politics, passion fades away so quickly
Gone without good-bye. Cindy clears his breakfast bowl
Shakes her head and lets her coffee grow ice cold
She’s staring at the door, thinks there should be more (to)

Love love, the call we always answer
One more breaking heart
Love love, the dance moves the dancer
Every time we start, there’ll be one more breaking heart

And at the end, the story just repeats again

So wave that magic wand, at the ball it’s always midnight
Kick your slippers off it’s alright.
Go, and take that chance, and if you catch somebody’s eye,
You might as well just dive in
One more time, let meteors collide
Risk another ride (with)

Love love, the call we always answer
One more breaking heart
Love love, the dance moves the dancer
One more breaking heart
Love love, the call we always answer
One more breaking heart
Love Love, the dance moves the dancer
Every time we start, there’ll be one more breaking heart
Each one plays their part, always one more breaking heart

EMPTY

Love don’t come here looking for me
Let my house my heart my soul be
Empty empty

Yearning get your claws out of me
Clear those darkened clouds above me
Empty that’s how I’d rather be

Free from longing, I’ll have freedom from despair
And those broken promises that show how much he doesn’t care
I’ll feel no pain, A Sunday train
Empty

Find a back road through Wyoming
Doesn’t matter where it’s going
Empty, make it Empty

Bombed out streets or burned-out relics
Bottles drained by alcoholics
Empty, that’s how I’m gonna be

Free from longing, I’ll have freedom from despair
I never needed him and god knows he was never there
I’ll float along
A word-less song
Empty

Life’s a road I’m traveling alone all alone
Fall from grace or stray from virtue
Love’s the only thing that hurts you

So love don’t come here looking for me
Let my house my heart my soul be
Empty, empty
And I’ll feel no pain, a Sunday train

I’ll float along, a wordless song
Keep my life
Locked up tight
Empty

RATTLESNAKE

Rattlesnake, rattlesnake. Tell me what you know
Shadows cross the desert, sunlight sinking low
I’m running out of reasons as I go

Rattlesnake, rattlesnake. How’d I wind up here?
Looking at you sometimes is like looking in a mirror
Devil and the darkness drawing near

I get filled with poison when Love is all I need
Tell me why this dark and cold-blooded heart belongs to me

Diamondback Diamondback, You gave to me your name
See how much I bring you, see we are the same
How we both take pleasure in the pain

I get filled with poison when Love is all I need
Tell me why this dark and cold-blooded heart belongs to me

Rattlesnake Rattlesnake, Cast me from your side
Rid me of your fever, tear me open wide
Let the venom and the antidote collide
The venom and the antidote collide
The venom is the antidote

MY OHIO

Take the pills away and close the door
I’ll soon be on a calm fresh water shore
Or kneeling down to tie a daisy ring
Breathing in a lilac-scented spring

What a fool I was to stay away so long
The restlessness inside of me was strong
But London’s cold and California’s dry
Nothing seems to match the home I find in my mind

My Ohio, Why oh why’d I ever go
There’s a cool breeze that’s blowing there I know
My Ohio, My Ohio

I’ll close my eyes and be a child again
Climbing trees or skipping stones and then
I’ll be home before the twilight grows too deep
To hear my mother sing me off to sleep, souls to keep

My Ohio, Why oh why’d I ever go
Life was sweet like ice cream as it’s melting slow
My Ohio

Chances now they’ve all been taken
Body bruised, spirit shaken
All I find my heart is aching for

My Ohio, Why oh why’d I ever go
You can lay me gently down I’m almost home
My Ohio

WAITING

Tick-tock, irreversible
Tears drop, barely visible
Cold hearts, growing weary of waiting

Ice moves, imperceptible
Snow melts, it’s a miracle
We wake, after seasons of waiting

Waiting waiting waiting
Waiting waiting for love

Small kiss, irresistible
One touch turns electrical
Cold hearts, growing stronger and beating

Ice moves, imperceptible
Snow melts, it’s a miracle
We wake, after seasons of waiting

Waiting waiting waiting
Waiting waiting for love
Waiting waiting waiting
Waiting waiting for love

Tick-tock, irreversible

THE FIRST POET ON THE MOON

The first poet on the moon, Looked up and saw the earth rise,
Kinda like a sunrise, In shades of green and blue
Just like your eyes, and she didn’t have a speech planned
She didn’t have a flag to plant, She came there for the view

And she knew, knew that words would never do
Not when everything that’s true is a million miles away
So she learned, to see the world and watch it turn
While we spin and while we burn from a million miles away

The first poet on the moon, that’s what I felt like last night
Gazing at the starlight, trying to talk to you
I sent up, My satellites and rockets
A compass in my pocket, But am I getting through

And I know, part of life is letting go
But it’s out of my control, when you’re a million miles away
So I’ll learned, to see the world and watch it turn
While we spin and while we burn from a million miles away

Astronauts and scientists, say we all are made of stardust
Galaxies inside of us just, longing for connection

Like we knew, words would never do
When everything that’s true is a million miles away
So we learn, to see the world and watch it turn
While we spin and while we burn from a million miles away
You’re a million miles away, you’re a million miles away
You’re a million miles away, And I’m a poet on the moon

LOST AND FOUND

What’s the deal? Are you givin’ up for real?
Wrapped in leather like a motorcycle dream
Full of anger you’re a modern-day James Dean

Not a clue how the sorrow comes to you
Standing idle while it severs every tie
You ride that tidal wave and never ask it why

And you’re walking away again
Tired of hanging around
So you’re walking away again
Like you’re living in a lost and found
Lost and found

You soldier on, till every friend you’ve had is gone
And how you stand it, can you tell me? Is it nice?
On your planet made of granite, made of ice

And you’re walking away again
Tired of hanging around
So you’re walking away again
Like you’re living in a lost and found
And you’re walking away again
No more hanging around
So you’re walking away again
Like you’re living in a lost and found
Like you’re living in a lost and found
Lost and found

CLEMENTINE

Don’t you look toward heaven when you call my name, lonesome and low
It’s an old old story tho the mem’ry lives thru time
You’d have heard I’m down in a river drowned but there’s more you don’t know
Take it from me, your darlin’ Clementine

Well it’s true we traveled to a western town, father and me
For he hoped to make his fortune in a mine
But the gold stayed hidden while the food ran out and our troubles were deep
And his worried eyes would rest on Clementine

Clementine he called me, Clementine
How’m I s’posed to keep us both alive
Clementine my darlin, Clementine
Swear I’ll find a way that we’ll survive

We had seen that boy at the store in town always tradin’ his gold
Eyes as bright as heat-filled summer skies
Then a plan, a plan, oh wicked man, we were terribly bold
Such an evil part for, Clementine

Clementine he called me, Clementine (you gotta)
Get that boy to show you where he mines
Clementine my darlin, Clementine
Girl, you’ll be his lover by the river, while I’ll take what gold I find –

The boy had such a clinging touch that when father struck him down
We both fell in the water, lost and gone forever

Clementine he called me, Clementine
Daughter please forgive me of my crime
Clementine my darlin, Clementine
Now every time you sing my name you know the reason why

In a churchyard on a hillside where the flowers grow and twine
I remain a ghostly vision, still your darlin’ Clementine

YOUR’RE LOVED

When you’re down, starting to frown
I know a secret you won’t have to keep
It’s a simple fact, you’re on the right track
And I’m here to tell you you’re loved

It’s a miracle you’re here at all
Take all the planets and then just expand it
Yet there you are, dust from a star
How can you doubt that you’re loved

Take time to notice
Sunrise and sunset and moonlight and I’ll bet that
Soon you’ll be feeling happy and you’ll remember you’re loved

When you were small and you would fall
Gravity floored you, she simply adored you
Now you’re grown, still she hangs on
How can you doubt that you’re loved

Take time to notice
Snowflakes and rainstorms and lilacs and newborns
And all these things the universe brings here just to show you you’re loved

Take time to notice
Starlight and roses and puppy dog noses
And soon you’ll be feeling happy, and you’ll remember to never surrender
Just always remember you’re loved

BEAUTIFUL

What if I write something beautiful, like falling snow on frozen pines
Tell the world that you’re beautiful
I wanna know, would it change your mind?

I would start with the bones and skin you’re living in, wearing rough
Every scar, every line I see says to me you’ve been strong enough

Don’t turn away I’ve just begun (there’s)
So much unspoken and unsung (as the)
Moonlight paints her silver in your hair
And you’re beautiful, Just lying there

How could it be you never knew how I felt for you it did not show
You were the spark, every dream I had, and I’m so bad at letting go

Don’t turn I haven’t finished yet (got a)
Slow burning love mixed with regret (and it was)
Winter, we were crying on your floor
And you were beautiful, oh I should have loved you
Don’t turn your eyes are all I see (got a)
Slow burning fire destroying me (and it was)
Winter, we were crying on your floor
And you were beautiful, I should have loved you more
You’re so beautiful, my closing door
